  1. I did not know where else to post my CEC assignments because I do not have a mac and I live off campus so I was unable to put any papers on slice...
    1. The Paley Center in Manhattan, New York

Driving into the city is always an adventure for me, something always seems to go wrong. I always manage to get lost in the city or get on the wrong bus. For this trip to the city everything was going great until we needed to leave and we got on the wrong but that was going to the part of town where my car was but was not stopping at my car. When I first entered the Paley Center, and purchased my ticket, I walked into the ground floor and walked into the back room, past the elevators, and took a look at the inventions of art that those people had created. There was a piece where you had asked this box a question and it would respond to you with a chart of answers depending on the list of questions that you ask them. Then as we moved on in the room, there was a wheel that is used to steer a ship, but it turned a reel of a TV screen. On the TV screen the background was still but the foreground kept moving as you turned the ships wheel. It moved from deer to people riding bicycles. I do not know what the meaning of it was but I thought that it was very intriguing. Then there was a TV that had a bulb above it and in that bulb there were holograms that replicated the kind of static that was produced by the television. The last project in the room was a bunch of different video recorders that projected different tiny images onto blocks and each set of blocks told a different story. One set of blocks were full of different faces and another was a scene of a car and a deer, and another was different symbols.

    1. 2. Occupy Student Debt

The occupy student debt seminar were very informative. I have no idea that that many schools were speaking out to the raises in tuition. These days people just suck it up and pay for there tuition by taking out loans and that is how all of this debt is collected. If parents want there children to be successful and have a life that they deserve then everyone will need to go to school and get a degree. The students that had spoken out were very knowledgeable about what they were talking about, Tiffany Fisher had talked about the project that she had done for one of her other classes. She had said had focused on the now and the other presenter had focused on what was going to happen after college and graduation. He had said that the job market is in such a low time and because no one can get a job that Ramapo students are going to be going form one arch to two, meaning that they will be working at McDonald because they need money to pay off those loans that will come and haunt us six months after graduation.
People are starting to use there resources to get the word out about how they feel about this. they are making Facebook groups, web pages, blogs, twitters. They are starting strikes, petitions and many other things to get the attention of the powerful people that control the state. I think that what everyone is doing is a great thing and maybe it will change things but I think this will take a lot longer. By the time something happens we will probably be out of school, so we need to keep passing this knowledge on the the younger years and they can continue the fight.

      3. Gaming

A couple of weeks ago I went to go see a gaming expert named Matt. He and a partner had started a gaming website called blackhammer.com. Matt is the designer of the website and of some of the games that his company has created, he is also an elite programmer. He had created games that are both educational and for fun. Games like Dora the Explorer, Diego, and I SPY. He had also created 2 Night Shift games. Black hammer is all about HOGs, which is an abbreviation for the name Hidden Objects Games. They specialize is things like this to get the mind motivated and to access the creativeness in you.
Matt had talked about the ways that you could get through a game and that no everyone will choose the same path. These paths are called Kludges. There is the Tree of death Kludge which basically shows that there is one way to get through the game with out dying. if you chose any other path besides the right one then you die. then there is the Obstruction Kludge, which means that you get through a level and at the end of the level to get onto the next one you need to do some kind of puzzle. This will continue until you beat the game. The final Kludge that I heard hi talk about was the Fold-back Kludge, which is one that no matter which way you go, you win, or you get to the end.
From the time that I have spent sitting there listening to him talk about his life and how he started this company and how successful he seems, It just makes me thing that anyone can do it. Gaming seems real interesting and I have never thought about it as a career.

  2. Student Dept Seminar-

This seminar truly opened my eyes to see what was really going on with schools tuition. To be honest, I was never well educated on what was going on. I always knew that college was very expensive but I was unaware about the constant increases. It is very interesting to see how everyone just takes out loans along with financial aid to get through college. I never knew that that is where our dept arose from. I also knew our economy was low and getting jobs was a struggle, but I was unaware of how much of a struggle it was.
When the young man started talking about Ramapo students receiving jobs out of college I really started to play close attention, wondering if that was going to be me. His analogy of ”going from one arch to two” really struck my attention. This meant that Ramapo students instead of getting jobs will be working at McDonald’s paying off their loans and they haven’t even gotten a sufficient job after spending all that money. The strikes, twitter pages and other things getting the message out will hopefully have a good turnout.

    Keith and Mendi Obadike-

Mendi and Keith Obadike are truly incredible. I have never heard of creating art with music before. They do many artworks that involve music, internet artworks and live sounding art. It is amazing how someone can be so successful in this department. Seeing the videos or websites in class were confusing at first. I did not understand how it was considered to be art, but as I began to watch and listen, I began to understand that it is not an easy task to do.
The couple’s love for the same thing is very remarkable and admirable. To be together and to do something you both enjoy together that is very successful is a gift in itself. Their ability to portray art into a digital form is something to look up to. Their hard work should be motivation to do just as good as they do. After seeing what they do I am now motivated to do more and have more hope in things that I want to try in the graphic design field.
